Film about the Swedish logging industry and alternative ways for sustainable logging
I saw a commercial from the Swedish logging industry a while ago. It made me feel sick. But I’m not quite sure exactly why. So I’ve started a new film project with the aim to answer the questions: “What is the forest worth, when we remove the monetary aspect? What is it worth for its inhabitants? For humans? For the environment? And is it really ‘climate smart’ to use clearcutting methods?”.
So far I’ve met and filmed Mikael Karlsson of the Eco Forestry Foundation. I’ve also reached out to a number of knowledgeable people who can speak on topics like biodiversity, carbon sequestration and the forest’s value in and of itself. The film is in production now and should be finished by the end of the year 2019.
